The UK has advised its citizens from visiting Anambra State. The warning came two days after unidentified gunmen attacked a convoy of US consulate employees in Ogbaru Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Remember that there were nine Nigerian nationals in the convoy: five were working for the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria and four were police officers. They were in route before US Mission employees were scheduled to visit a US-funded flood response project in Anambra State.
At least four of the convoy's passengers died. But yesterday, the UK published the warning on its website through the Foreign Travel Advice Service. Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Cross River were also suggested. The warning stated: "The FCDO advise against all travel to the riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States, which are river and swamp sites accessible by boat but not by road.
